On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), held its 29th Awards to honour journalists who had excelled in the inky craft during the previous year (2024).
As if by design, 29 journalists aside media institutions were nominated to receive the awards, which for the first time was held outside Accra at the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom, the Manhyia Palace, with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II himself in attendance.
Also, the Overall Best Journalist Award went to 29-year-old Godwin Asediba of TV3, while the Best Female Journalist Award went to Doreen Ampofo of GBC and the Best Student Journalist Award was grabbed by Clinton Yeboah (KNUST).
Among the awardees were four from the Daily Graphic stable; Severious Kale-Dery, Best in News Reporting, Print; Edmund Smith-Asante, Best Columnist, Print; Timothy Ngnenbe, Best in Feature Writing, Print and Justice Agbenorsi, Best in Court and Crime Reporting. The Best in Newspaper Layout was also won by the Daily Graphic.
Among the august visitors were the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama; the Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie; the Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu; Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu and the Executive Chairman of KGL Group (headline sponsors), Alex Apau Dadey, among others.
