Transportation in Dakar

BY EDMUND SMITH-ASANTE

One of the amazing sights of Dakar is the use of horse-drawn carts to transport goods. During my visit in the second week of April 2013, this was a common sight in the Senegalese capital.
To transport or ferry passengers however, the main means of transport, it was observed, were two bus types - one white (the big ones), and the other yellow (the small or mini buses).
Taxis painted in yellow and black, could also be seen on the roads.

LIQUID WASTE DISPOSAL IN GHANA - WELCOME TO LAVENDER HILL

BY EDMUND SMITH-ASANTE

Although the Accra Metropolitan Assembly has indicated it is going to decommission a broken down liquid waste disposal site popularly known as Lavender Garden or Hill, it still continues to receive hundreds of cesspit tankers or emptiers every month which discharge their contents directly into the sea near Accra's Light House at James Town.

Trucks visit the dump site daily around the clock as can be seen here.
